I can turn a blind eye to construction and a not-so-updated restaurant to excellent customer service and good food any day. They were working on their floors when I was there, but it was still evident that they were taking pride in cleaning as best they could. Service was quick and spectacular. This place is a local hangout. I came at noon and it was packed! They have a huge menu and a large list of daily specials. So many things looked good! They serve their breakfast most of the day (which would make my husband happy). I ordered the taco soup, market sandwhich, and a salad. The Taco Soup was delicious and the color consistency reminded me of Velveta. It had fresh vegetables and was quite spicy. The sandwhich was tasty and so was the salad. It was processed meat; however, for the price of this place I wasn't expecting gourmet. It is home cooking, similar to what your grandma might make. If you're looking for a home cooked meal and aren't counting calories, this is the place!

Great local family restaurant with good food, reasonable prices, and comfortable atmosphere. The servers are all friendly and attentive.

Not a fan!slow and the food I can tell is not fresh

Great breakfast place! Excellent food, generous portions, and friendly service. Fun neighborhood diner.

I've never been to the restaurant, but I've had their catering at Saints Peter and Paul church a couple of times and both times were terrible. The food is mediocre. Pasta salad doused in Italian dressing. Sloppy potato salad. Burgers sitting in oil. The kind of burger and hot dog buns you'd find at the dollar store. The tomatoes were pink/white and mealy, which is unacceptable considering the abundance of homegrown veggies in the Summer. They need a lesson in what good food is and what should be served to guests at a special event.

Great for breakfast! The all you can eat option is an amazing value. Very homey place. Wait staff is amazing. Location is easy to find and very accessible. There is often a 5-15 minute wait on weekends between 9-12pm

Great breakfast here! Super friendly staff welcomed us like we were their favorite neighbors. Our new favorite breakfast destination.

In my opinion, there is no better place to get breakfast on a weekend than at Allie's. The staff is always cheerful, helpful and kind. My coffee cup never goes empty. The customers seem to know each other and the staff. The food is what I consider old fashioned true breakfast food. I -never- can finish all of it! All in all, terrific neighborhood cafe!

I love breakfast and Allie's never disappoints! Delicious food, good coffee and great service. Try either the meat lovers skillet or meat lovers scrambler!

The food is good. The service is prompt, attentive, and courteous. The construction never seems to stop. Yes, the construction. Allie's Cafe is putting in a new floor, but instead of closing the restaurant for three days while they install the floor, they're going PG&E style and doing the construction gradually and allowing people to eat here in between sessions. I'm assuming they work at night, clean up a little--just a little--and then start again after closing. That might be a way to save a few bones here and there, but it makes the dining experience, um, special. In a bad way. Eating here feels like eating in a carpenter's garage: It's not disgusting, and it seems organized, but the floor is beat-up concrete, and it just feels icky. This might fly in a bar, but in a breakfast place? No way. So, sorry, Allie's. Your food is good, and I would definitely come back to give you more tries, but that construction decision was a bad one. NOTE: I ate here in September 2014, so the construction might be complete, but who knows?

Good, solid diner food for breakfast. Too large of portions for my liking. Wonderful amd funny waitstaff. They'd benefit from cleaning the snow from the sidewalk so patrons can get into the restaurant safely.

I use to frequent this cafe as a student. It was fast and great food for the price. I liked having a more "home cooked" meal compared to going to Micky D's or any other fast food joint. They have daily specials that are large. My favorite is still their breakfast offerings though!

Currently (Nov 2014) closed for renovations. Wonderful breakfast joint. Loved the corned beef hash omelet. The hash browns were extra crispy, as I requested.

Allie's food and staff hit it out of the park! I recently had an opportunity to use Allie's catering for a celebration of life event. Due to the timing of events and the circumstances I had to call two hours before the time they were to deliver (polish style for 200) and ask them if they could move it up and hour. Betty did not hesitate one bit. She simply said I'm on my way to the back as we speak to let them know. The van arrived an hour later as I had requested with the driver saying (with a friendly smile) where can we set up! He mentioned that they had 90% of what we needed and has someone bringing the last bit in a few minutes. Being in the restaurant business myself for years I know how difficult that was to pull off. They didn't even blink they just accommodated! The food was outstanding, the service was outstanding, and our event was fantastic. Thank you so much for all your help!

I am a fan of breakfast and wish every place fast, medium, and slow food joints would make it 24 hours. I grew up in a 24 hour diner city so I love the eggs. Now, this place is not open 24 hours, but rather is one of these odd early AM to afternoon places that seem to be all over Indiana. I went and had the Allie's Own German Special (breakfast) which is an American variation on the Gröstl I had in Austria. Everything looked great. The ladies who run this place are super nice and keep the coffee coming.

Benedict omelette, very creative omelette choices. This place also brings back memories. It's like.stepping back into time.

Allie's has been a favorite of mine ever since I started my freshman year at IUSB (8 years ago omg!!) I fell in love with it for its awesome prices and super homey feel. After i graduated... I didn't really go back... until a few days ago... and it didn't disappoint! :) I've been on the prowl for the best breakfast in Michiana and I knew my memory needed refreshed on the menu, service, and quality of Allie's cafe. Plus, my brother was in town... and he was ready for some seriously good home cooked breakfast. I was too lazy to provide this service... So, we made the trip over to Mishawaka Ave. The cafe was seriously swamped. You could tell the waitresses were overwhelmed but the scene was not chaotic. Service was smiling and the chaos seemed contained. Our waitress was fantastic from the start.... I WISH I COULD REMEMBER HER NAME!!! She explained the wait in an apologetic but not overly sappy manor, brought us our coffee quickly, and put in our appetizer order within 5 minutes of sitting down (P.S. fun detail-- they have all different kinds of mugs. None of them match. It's like you are going to your grandma's house with all the wonderfully kitschy, cheesy coffee mugs you could find. I love it) For an appetizer, we got bacon wrapped in pancake batter with a side of syrup... my arteries aren't clogged yet... but I would eat these again even if they were. So yummmm! I got the all you can eat breakfast. It was 10 bucks and change... and it was literally all you can eat. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, toast, potatoes, and choice of meat (I got bacon). That alone is worth the 10.95.... which... I could only eat 1 serving.... but if I could manage it, I could have kept going at no extra charge. Everything was perfect, cooked to order, and EXACTLY what I was looking for to get a taste of a little bit of everything. This is definitely a go to breakfast place for me... I'll never go so long without stopping by Allie's cafe again!!

I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns toast and a half order of biscuits and gravy with an OJ to drink. It was over 15 bucks which would have been fine if the eggs were not rubbery and cooked on a flat top instead of a omelet pan, the ham was cold and the little cheese they put in it was half melted at best. The biscuits are store bought and low end at best, the gravy was a powdered mix with very little sausage in it and was not even cooked all the way and still tasted starchy. The server was pleasant but couldn't care less if I was satisfied or needed anything else from her. This is the laziest way of cooking and should not be rewarded with return business. This was the third time I have tried this place out in a year and it was the same which is a shame because it is close to where I live.

Been coming for several years. First visit since major renovations. Wow! Never thought this space could look so spacious and inviting

So disappointed. I used to love coming here, but the food was beyond terrible (I always order the same thing, so I have a lot to compare it to). The service was okay, but not enough to make up for the food.

Allie's Cafe is a great neighborhood restaurant with a friendly staff, outstanding service and very reasonably priced food. Great breakfast menu with old-time favorites mixed in with a few unique dishes. Portions are huge and can easily feed two adults. A few of our favorites include the eggs benedict, hashbrown casserole and Allie's scrambler. Your mis-matched coffee mug will never go empty. Kid-friendly, relaxing environment with lots of regulars.
